A special lecture hosted by N-lab was held from July 10 to 12, 2024. The special lecture aims to invite experts in fields related to our laboratory, providing opportunities to gain specialized knowledge and insights into cutting-edge research.
For this special lecture, we had the honor of inviting Professor Masashi Yokoyama from the University of Tokyo. The theme of his lecture was “Neutrino Physics: From Experimental Basics to the Frontiers.” He gave a comprehensive talk covering fundamental knowledge and techniques in particle physics experiments, as well as the history of neutrino research and the latest developments in various neutrino experiments. In particular, his discussion on neutrino oscillations—which led to a Nobel Prize in Physics—was especially compelling. He explained experimental setups based on theoretical calculations, observational results from the Super-Kamiokande experiment, and the ongoing construction of the Hyper-Kamiokande project. The audience listened attentively and was deeply engaged in the fascinating content of his lecture.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Prof. Yokoyama for his very valuable lecture over the three days.
